The measures used to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19.

Over the last couple of years Isolation and quarantine are two terms that have become familiar

to most people around the world. They help to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including COVID-19. Some think that isolation and quarantine are similar, but there are some key differences between the two.

Isolation is used to separate people who are sick with a contagious disease from those who are healthy. This is done to prevent the spread of the disease to others. People who are in isolation are usually asked to stay in a designated area or room, away from other people. They may also be asked to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a mask or gloves to further prevent the spread of the disease. Isolation can be voluntary, but in some cases, it may be mandatory.

Quarantine, on the other hand, is used to separate and restrict the movement of people who may have been exposed to a contagious disease, but who are not yet sick. Quarantine is used to prevent the potential spread of the disease if the person does become sick. People who are in quarantine may be asked to stay in their homes, in a designated area, or in a facility provided by the government or health authorities. Like isolation, quarantine can be voluntary or mandatory.

Both isolation and quarantine are important measures to prevent the spread of infectious

diseases. They can be used during a pandemic, outbreak, or epidemic. By separating those who are sick or may be sick from those who are healthy, we can slow down the spread of the disease and give healthcare providers time to treat those who are sick.

It's important to note that isolation and quarantine can be challenging for those who are affected. Isolation can be lonely, and quarantine can be difficult for those who are not able to leave their homes. In some cases, people may experience anxiety or depression as a result of being isolated or quarantined. It's important for healthcare providers and others to provide support to those who are affected by these measures.

In conclusion, isolation and quarantine are important measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. While they may be challenging for those who are affected, they are necessary to protect public health. By following these measures, we can slow down the spread of diseases like COVID-19 and protect ourselves and those around us.

What If There Were No Black Folk?

Thi
s is a story of a little boy named Theo, who woke up one morning and asked Mom, "what if there were no black people in the world?"

Well, Mom thought about that for a moment and then said, "Son, follow me around today and let's just see what it would be like if there were no black people in the world. Get dressed and we will get started." Theo ran to his room to put on his clothes and shoes. But there were no shoes, and his clothes were all wrinkled. He looked for the iron, but when reached for the ironing board, it was no longer there.  You see Sarah Boone, a Black woman, invented the ironing board and Jan E. Matzelinger, a Black man invented the shoe lasting machine.

"Oh well", Mom said, "Go and do your hair." Theo ran in his room to comb his hair, but

the comb was not there. You see, Walter Sammons, a Black man, invented the comb. Theo decided to just brush his hair, but the brush was gone You see Lydia O. Newman, a Black female invented the brush. Well, he was a sight, no shoes, wrinkled clothes, hair a mess without the hair care inventions of Madam C. J. Walker, ...well, you get the picture.

Mom told Theo, "Let's do the chores around the house and then take a trip to the grocery store." Theo's job was to sweep the floor. He swept and swept and swept. When he reached for the dustpan, it was not there. You see LIoyd P. Ray, a Black man, invented the dustpan. So, he swept his pile of dirt over in the corner and left it there. He then decided to mop the floor, but the mop was gone. You see, Thomas W. Stewart, a Black man invented the mop. Theo thought to himself, "I'm not having any luck." "Well, son," Mom said. "We should wash the clothes and prepare a list for the grocery store. When he was finished, Theo went to place the clothes in the dryer, but it was not there.

You see, George T. Samon, a Black man, invented the clothes dryer. Theo got a pencil and some paper to prepare the list for the market but noticed that the pencil lead was broken as well, he was out of luck because John Love, a Black man, invented the pencil sharpener. He reached for a pen, but it was not there because William Purvis, a Black man, invented the fountain pen. As a matter of fact, Lee Burridge invented the type writing machine, and W. A. Lavette, the printing press. So, they decided to head out to the market. Well, when Theo opened the door, he noticed the grass was as high as he was tall. You see the lawnmower was invented by John Burr, a Black man.

They made their way over to the car and found that it just wouldn't go. You see Robert Spikes, a Black man, invented the automatic gear shift and Joseph Gammel invented the supercharge system for internal combustion engines.

They noticed that the few cars that were moving were running into each other and
having wrecks because there were no traffic signals. You see, Garrett A. Morgan,
a Black man, invented the traffic light. Well, it was getting late, so they walked to the market, got their groceries and returned home. Just when they were about to put away the milk, eggs and butter, they noticed the refrigerator was gone.  You see, John Standard, a Black man, invented the refrigerator. So, they put the food on the counter. By this time, they noticed it was getting mighty cold. Theo went to turn up the heat and what do you know, it was not there.  You see, Alive Parker, a Black female, invented the heating furnace. Even in the summertime they would have been out of luck, because Frederick Jones, a Black man, invented the air conditioner.

It was almost time for Theo's father to arrive home.  He usually took the bus, but there was no bus because its precursor was the electric trolley, invented by another Black man, Elbert T. Robinson. He usually took the elevator from his office on the 20th floor, but there was no elevator because Alexander Miles, A Black man, invented the elevator. He usually dropped off the office mail at a nearby mailbox, but it no longer was there because Phillip Downing, a Black man, invented the letter drop mailbox and William Barry invented the postmarking and canceling machine. Theo sat at the kitchen table with his head in his hands. When his father arrived, he asked, "Why are you sitting in the dark?" Why?? Because Lewis Howard Latimer, a Black man, invented the filament within the light bulb.
Theo quickly learned what it would be like if there were no Black people in the world.

Not to mention if he were ever sick and needed blood. Charles Drew, a Black scientist, found a way to preserve and store blood, which led to his starting the world's first blood bank. And what if a family member had to have heart surgery.  This would not have been possible without Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, a Black doctor, who performed first open-heart surgery.

So, if you ever wonder, like Theo, where we would be without Blacks?  Well, it's
pretty
plain to see, we could very well still be in the dark!!!

Childhood obesity in America is a growing..

Childhood obesity in America is a growing concern as it leads to many health problems. Over 50% of the American population is overweight, and one-quarter of them are dangerously obese. These unhealthy lifestyle choices are causing an increase in chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other preventable illnesses. It is common to see adults weighing 300 pounds or more, and this unhealthy behavior is normalized. However, when it comes to children, the situation is alarming. Children are getting obese because they consume unhealthy foods that contain high amounts of sugar, fats, and oils, and they are not eating enough nutritional foods like fruits, whole grains, and vegetables.

The preference for quick and convenient meals is leading to a surge in fast-

food consumption, and the fast-food industry uses subliminal perception and mass marketing to attract consumers, especially children. Parents have taken legal action against TV channels and advertisers to stop the promotion of unhealthy food and drinks to children. The poor food choices in public schools across the United States also contribute to this problem. Schools should prioritize healthier approaches to meals instead of vending contracts with soda and chip companies. Children's food consumption directly correlates with their academic performance, but public schools have placed too much emphasis on academic achievement, neglecting health and physical education programs.

Modern American culture is leading children away from physical activities like

playing with hula hoops, jump ropes, and bicycles to indoor activities like playing video games, surfing the internet, and watching TV. Parents set an example for their children when they bring home fast food and engage in sedentary activities. The childhood obesity rate has tripled since 1980, and the cost of obesity-associated hospitalization for children and youth has tripled as well. Adolescents without insurance or public insurance like Medicaid are more likely to be overweight, and this prevalence increases with decreasing socioeconomic status. It is necessary to encourage healthy lifestyle choices and physical activity for children and parents alike to reverse the trend of childhood obesity in America.

The Ebay Buyer/Seller Protection how it benefits you, if you follow the right steps

Buyer Protection on eBay is a promise to intervene in disputes between buyers and sellers and make things right when something has gone wrong for the buyer, and the seller has failed to adequately resolve the issue. Buyers who file a successful claim may be issued a refund from eBay for the full purchase price and shipping amount, required to return the item to the seller, absolved of any further connection with the transaction, and eBay will recover funds from the seller. Buyers are eligible for a buyer protection claim if they made the purchase on eBay, paid through eBay using an approved payment method, made the purchase within the preceding 45 days, and have a good faith dispute with the seller. However, to win a claim, eBay must believe that the buyer fundamentally did not get what they paid for. eBay usually rules that previous use has resulted in normal wear and tear and that buyers knowingly take a risk when buying a used item that may break soon after purchase.

On the other hand, Seller Protection on eBay ensures that buyers and sellers who have acted

in good faith are given a fair deal at the end of the transaction. eBay will automatically rule in favor of sellers for certain protected items if they shipped promptly using eBay's shipping payment system or can provide eBay with a tracking number showing prompt delivery or if the buyer claims that an item was received that doesn't match the seller's description if the listing gave clear and consistent details about the item's condition. Any dispute of a protected sale won't impact the seller's performance rating if they resolve the dispute proactively, and the buyer withdraws the claim before it's escalated to a customer service representative. It's important for sellers to make the rules work for them by avoiding repeatedly making "risky" sales, providing clear and detailed item descriptions, and shipping promptly.

Give customers the benefit of the doubt in cases of disputes when you’re able to do so. Fix it before eBay has to fix it for you so that it won’t count against you, and be proactive about having buyers notify eBay of successful resolutions.

Though none of these methods is foolproof or guarantees that you’ll win the dispute battle, over the long term you’re better off thinking of these as “best practices” that enable you to make the most of eBay’s protection for sellers. Some sellers may dismiss the program as inadequate, but smart ones know that putting your ducks in a row for automatic judgments in your favor can be a big business help.

  • Sellers were given other tools they can use to choose the type of buyers they want to do business with and report issues with buyers who are violating eBay policies. These tools include:
