CHANGES ARE COMING ----
Whether these changes are good or bad depends in part on how we adapt to them. But, ready or not, here they come

1. The Post Office. Get ready to imagine a world without the post office. They are so deeply in financial trouble that there is probably no way to sustain it long term. Email, Fed Ex, and UPS have just about wiped out the minimum revenue needed to keep the post office alive. Most of your mail every day is junk mail and bills.

2. The Check.  Britain is already laying the groundwork to do away with checks by 2018. It costs the financial system billions of dollars a year to process checks. Plastic cards and online transactions will lead to the eventual demise of the check. This plays right into the death of the post office. If you never paid your bills by mail and never received them by mail, the post office would absolutely go out of business.

3. The Newspaper. The younger generation simply doesn't read the newspaper. They certainly don't subscribe to a daily delivered print edition. That may go the way of the milkman and the laundry man. As for reading the paper online, get ready to pay for it. The rise in mobile Internet devices and e-readers has caused all the newspaper and magazine publishers to form an alliance. They have met with Apple, Amazon, and the major cell phone companies to develop a model for paid subscription services.

4. The Book. You say you will never give up the physical book that you hold in your hand and turn the literal pages. I said the same thing about downloading music from I-Tunes. I wanted my hard copy CD. But I quickly changed my mind when I discovered that I could get albums for half the price without ever leaving home to get the latest music. The same thing will happen with books. You can browse a bookstore online and even read a preview chapter before you buy. And the price is less than half that of a real book. And think of the convenience! Once you start flicking your fingers on the screen instead of the book, you find that you are lost in the story, can't wait to see what happens next, and you forget that you're holding a gadget instead of a book.


5. The Land Line Telephone. Unless you have a large family and make a lot of local calls, you don't need it anymore. Most people keep it simply because they've always had it. But you are paying double charges for that extra service. All the cell phone companies will let you call customers using the same cell provider for no charge against your minutes

6. Music. This is one of the saddest parts of the change story. The music industry is dying a slow death. Not just because of illegal downloading. It's the lack of innovative new music being given a chance to get to the people who would like to hear it. Greed and corruption is the problem. The record labels and the radio conglomerates are simply self-destructing. Over 40% of the music purchased today is "catalog items," meaning traditional music that the public is familiar with. Older established artists. This is also true on the live concert circuit. 7. Television. Revenues to the networks are down dramatically. Not just because of the economy. People are watching TV and movies streamed from their computers. And they're playing games and doing lots of other things that take up the time that used to be spent watching TV. Prime time shows have degenerated down to lower than the lowest common denominator. Cable rates are skyrocketing and commercials run about every 4 minutes and 30 seconds. I say good riddance to most of it. It's time for the cable companies to be put out of our misery. Let the people choose what they want to watch online and through Netflix.



8. The "Things" That You Own. Many of the very possessions that we used to own are still in our lives, but we may not actually own them in the future. They may simply reside in "the cloud." Today your computer has a hard drive and you store your pictures, music, movies, and documents. Your software is on a CD or DVD, and you can always re-install it if need be. But all of that is changing. Apple, Microsoft, and Google are all finishing up their latest "cloud services." That means that when you turn on a computer, the Internet will be built into the operating system. So, Windows, Google, and the Mac OS will be tied straight into the Internet. If you click an icon, it will open something in the Internet cloud. If you save something, it will be saved to the cloud. And you may pay a monthly subscription fee to the cloud provider. In this virtual world, you can access your music or your books, or your whatever from any laptop or handheld device. That's the good news. But, will you actually own any of this "stuff" or will it all be able to disappear at any moment in a big "Poof?" Will most of the things in our lives be disposable and whimsical? It makes you want to run to the closet and pull out that photo album, grab a book from the shelf, or open up a CD case and pull out the insert.


9. Privacy. If there ever was a concept that we can look back on nostalgically, it would be privacy. That's gone. It's been gone for a long time anyway. There are cameras on the street, in most of the buildings, and even built into your computer and cell phone. But you can be sure that 24/7, "They" know who you are and where you are, right down to the GPS coordinates, and the Google Street View. If you buy something, your habit is put into a zillion profiles, and your ads will change to reflect those habits. And "They" will try to get you to buy something else. Again and again.


All we will have that can't be changed are Memories.

The United States is rapidly becoming the very first "post-industrial" nation on the globe.  All great economic empires eventually become fat and lazy and squander the great wealth that their forefathers have left them, but the pace at which America is accomplishing this is absolutely amazing.  It was America that was at the forefront of the industrial revolution.  It was America that showed the world how to mass produce everything from automobiles to televisions to airplanes.  It was the great American manufacturing base that crushed Germany and Japan in World War II.

But now we are witnessing the deindustrialization of America .  Tens of thousands of factories have left the United States in the past decade alone  Millions upon millions of manufacturing jobs have been lost in the same time period.  The United States has become a nation that consumes everything in sight and yet produces increasingly little.  Do you know what our biggest export is today?  Waste paper.  Yes, trash is the number one thing that we ship out to the rest of the world as we voraciously blow our money on whatever the rest of the world wants to sell to us..  The United States has become bloated and spoiled and our economy is now just a shadow of what it once was.  Once upon a time America could literally out produce the rest of the world combined.  Today that is no longer true, but Americans sure do consume more than anyone else in the world.  If the deindustrialization of America continues at this current pace, what possible kind of a future are we going to be leaving to our children?

Any great nation throughout history has been great at making things.  So if the United States continues to allow its manufacturing base to erode at a staggering pace how in the world can the U.S. continue to consider itself to be a great nation?  We have created the biggest debt bubble in the history of the world in an effort to maintain a very high standard of living, but the current state of affairs is not anywhere close to sustainable.  Every single month America    goes into more debt and every single month America gets poorer.

So what happens when the debt bubble pops?

The deindustrialization of the United States should be a top concern for every man, woman and child in the country.  But sadly, most Americans do not have any idea what is going on around them.

For people like that, take this article and print it out and hand it to them.  Perhaps what they will read below will shock them badly enough to awaken them from their slumber.

#1 The United States has lost approximately 42,400 factories since 2001.  About 75 percent of those factories employed over 500 people when they were still in operation.

#2 Dell Inc., one of America ’s largest manufacturers of computers, has announced plans to dramatically expand its operations in China with an investment of over $100 billion over the next decade.

#3 Dell has announced that it will be closing its last large U.S. manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem , North Carolina in November.  Approximately 900 jobs will be lost.

#4 In 2008, 1.2 billion cell phones were sold worldwide.  So how many of them were manufactured inside the United States ?  Zero.

#5 According to a new study conducted by the Economic Policy Institute, if the U.S. trade deficit with China continues to increase at its current rate, the U.S. economy will lose over half a million jobs this year alone.

#6 As of the end of July, the U.S. trade deficit with China had risen 18 percent compared to the same time period a year ago.

#7 The United States has lost a total of about 5.5 million manufacturing jobs since October 2000.

#8 According to Tax Notes, between 1999 and 2008 employment at the foreign affiliates of U.S. parent companies increased an astounding 30 percent to 10.1 million. During that exact same time period, U.S. employment at American multinational corporations declined 8 percent to 21.1 million.

#9 In 1959, manufacturing represented 28 percent of U.S. economic output.  In 2008, it represented 11.5 percent.

#10 Ford Motor Company recently announced the closure of a factory that produces the Ford Ranger in St. Paul , Minnesota .. Approximately 750 good paying middle class jobs are going to be lost because making Ford Rangers in Minnesota does not fit in with Ford's new "global" manufacturing strategy.

#11 As of the end of 2009, less than 12 million Americans worked in.
 manufacturing.  The last time less than 12 million Americans were employed in manufacturing was in 1941.

#12 In the United States today, consumption accounts for 70 percent of GDP. Of this 70 percent, over half is spent on services.

#13 The United States has lost a whopping 32 percent of its manufacturing jobs since the year 2000.

#14 In 2001, the United States ranked fourth in the world in per capita broadband Internet use.  Today it ranks 15th.

#15 Manufacturing employment in the U.S. computer industry is actually lower in 2010 than it was in 1975.

#16 Printed circuit boards are used in tens of thousands of different products.   Asia now produces 84 percent of them worldwide.

#17 The United States spends approximately $3.90 on Chinese goods for every $1 that the Chinese spend on goods from the United States .

So how many tens of thousands more factories do we need to lose before we do something about it?

How many millions more Americans are going to become unemployed before we all admit that we have a very, very serious problem on our hands?

How many more trillions of dollars are going to leave the country before we realize that we are losing wealth at a pace that is killing our economy?

How many once great manufacturing cities are going to become rotting war zones like Detroit before we understand that we are committing national economic suicide?

The deindustrialization of America is a national crisis.  It needs to be treated like one.

Thirty-seven-year-old Rashida Anderson had decided enough was enough.

After her son was accused of stealing a laptop from his school, they argued for over an hour on November 26, 2010, before she finally took away his Play Station, according to the NY Daily News.

Two days later, her partially charred body was discovered in an alley behind their South Philadelphia home.

According to his confession, 16-year-old Kendall Anderson paced the floors for three hours while his mother slept before deciding to murder her:

"I couldn't stand the arguing," the teen said in a statement read by Philadelphia police homicide Detective Thorsten Lucke during a preliminary hearing.So he struck his mother with a claw hammer 20 times before attempting to "cremate" her in the oven.

When that failed, the 11th grader at Daniel Boone School in North Philadelphia repeatedly smashed her head with a chair leg before dragging her bloodied corpse in to the alley, where it remained undetected until family members became suspicious.

In December, Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Karen Yvette Simmons ordered the youth to stand trial for murder, possession of an instrument of crime and abuse of corpse.

"If I could, I would not do it again," he said in his confession. "I really miss my mom. ... She was the only person who cared for me."

Kendall is not the first child to ruthlessly murder his mother over a game.

In 2007, 17-year-old Daniel Petric shot both his parents, killing his mom, after they refused to let him play the violent video game Halo 3, leading some experts to suggest a rapidly growing phenomenon known as video game addiction as the true perpetrator of these crimes.

Symptoms, such as loss of appetite, depression, anxiety, lethargy and withdrawal, are all signs of this addiction, which is similar to the addiction with drugs and alcohol.

While the American Academy of Pediatrics suggests two-hour maximum screen time daily, most children are allowed far in excess of that number, oftentime sitting transfixed before a screen for eight hours or more.

And it's not just the children who are unraveling due to technology overdose.
  • In 2008, Tyrone Spellman of Philadelphia killed his 17-month-old daughter, after she broke his Xbox.
  • In 2010, Alexandra Tobias of Jacksonville, Florida, plead guilty to second-degree murder, after shaking her baby to death for interrupting her while she played Farmville, a game popular with Facebook users.
  • Also in 2010, Alejandro Morales stabbed 9-year-old Anthony Maldonado to death while playing a Tony Hawk video game.
The concept of video game addiction has continued to be controversial, with the American Medical Association recently withdrawing support from a proposal for it to be included in the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 2012.

We can speculate that Anderson was in the throes of this addiction when he murdered his mother, and that's probably the politically correct direction this conversation should take.

However, there's another equally plausible reason:

He's just another spoiled juvenile delinquent who didn't consider the long-reaching ramifications of his barbaric actions.

We've seen it before.

Child gets in to trouble, parent attempts to tighten the reins after years of allowing the child to run fancy free, child then responds to parent in disrespectful and previously accepted way.

Sadly, that disrespect sometimes turns fatal, and the horrific irony of a Mother giving birth to her death is impossible to escape.

I cannot begin to imagine the dynamics of a parent-child relationship that allowed this heinous crime to occur - or the depths of the mental instability present in the child - but I have no problem presuming that it was a perfect storm of unhealthful behavior that culminated with Rashida Anderson being bludgeoned to death by her own son and dumped in to an alley in South Philly.

As I look at this child's mugshot, I am reminded that he could be my son, or your son, or our neighbor's son. There is no them, there is only us, and we have to figure out where we're going wrong.

Where was Kendall's father? Why was Kendall being accused of theft? Were there issues inside the home? Were they struggling financially?

While there are too many unresolved questions to play this child's judge and jury, I do know you can only get out of a child what is put in to them.

In this young man's case, violence, selfishness and rage seemed to emboldened him to kill.

His actions were unconscionable, and inexcusable, and hopefully he receives the lesson in accountability he needs while behind bars. More than likely, though, two murders were committed on November 26th, 2010: Rashida Anderson's and Kendall's future.

The Stroke Belt is linked to higher date rate in these southern states

Stroke belt residents were 32% more likely to eat two or more servings of fried fish each week than those in the rest of the country.



A study published in today's Neurology shows people living in the stroke belt — which comprises North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Louisiana — eat more fried fish and less non-fried fish than people living in the rest of the country, and African-Americans eat more fried fish than Caucasians.
"Differences in dietary fish consumption, specifically in cooking methods, may be contributing to higher rates of stroke in the stroke belt and also among African Americans," says study author Fadi Nahab, medical director for the Stroke Program at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
The research, part of a large government-funded study, Reasons for Geographic and Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS), involved 21,675 participants from across the country; the average age was 65.
Of the participants, 21% were from the "stroke buckle," the coastal plain region of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia where stroke mortality rates are even higher than they are in the rest of the stroke belt. Another 34% were from the rest of the stroke belt and 44% were from the other states.
Participants were interviewed by phone and then given an in-home physical exam. The questionnaire asked how often they ate oysters, shellfish, tuna, fried fish and non-fried fish. The American Heart Association recommends people eat fish high in omega-3 fatty acids—essential fatty acids humans get through their diet—at least twice a week, baked or grilled but not fried.
Fewer than one in four overall ate two or more servings of non-fried fish a week. Stroke belt residents were 32% more likely to eat two or more servings of fried fish each week than those in the rest of the country.
African-Americans were more than 3.5 times more likely to eat two or more servings of fried fish each week than Caucasians, with an overall average of about one serving per week of fried fish compared with about half a serving for Caucasians.
When it came to eating non-fried fish meals, stroke belt residents ate an average of 1.45 servings per week, compared with 1.63 servings eaten by people elsewhere.
"This is good stuff. It's a well-done study, but I think one thing to bear in mind is that it's not specifically a study of stroke risk. You're looking at a community and seeing how it's behaving on the whole," says Daniel Labovitz, a stroke neurologist at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.
"This study can't tell you causation. It can't tell you there's a direct link between one thing and another, it just tells you they're associated," says stroke neurologist Victor Urrutia, an assistant professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
How might eating fried fish impact stroke?
It could be that frying the fish leaches out the omega-3s, says Jeremy Lanford, stroke director at Scott & White Healthcare in Roundrock, Texas.
Or the increased fat calorie content from the frying oil may contribute to stroke, says author Nahab. He also notes that fish used for frying, such as cod and haddock, tend to be the types lower in healthy fats.
More research is needed to tease out whether cooking methods affect stroke risk, Labovitz says.
"In other words, is fried fish a problem, or is it another red herring?" he says.
The study was supported by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the National Institutes of Health, and the Department of Health and Human Services. Funding was provided by General Mills for coding of the food frequency questionnaire.

High School Freshman Cassy Herkelman win a match in the Iowa state high school wrestling tournament.

 Break out the record books. Cedar Falls High School Freshman Cassy Herkelman became the first girl ever to win a match in the Iowa state high school wrestling tournament. Too bad it wasn't very exciting to watch: Cassy's opponent never even showed up.

Joel Northrup, a home-schooled sophomore, said he defaulted on his match with Herkelman because he doesn't think boys and girls should compete in the sport together.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Cassy and Megan and their accomplishments. However, wrestling is a combat sport and it can get violent at times," said Northrup in a news release. "As a matter of conscience and my faith I do not believe that it is appropriate for a boy to engage a girl in this manner. It is unfortunate that I have been placed in a situation not seen in most other high school sports in Iowa."

Herkelman already made history just by making it into the tournament. She wasn't alone either: Ottumwa High sophomore Megan Black was also competing. It marks the first time in the tournament's 85-year history that women have participated in the state championship.

Black's first opponent was considerate enough to actually face her. Three years earlier, she was scheduled to wrestle Northrup. He defaulted then too.

"If it's his religion and he's strong in his religion, then I just respect that," Black said. "Obviously, everyone can be pointing fingers at him. He, at least, is true to his beliefs and you have to respect that. It takes a lot for a 15- or 16-year-old boy to do."

Cassy is moving on to the quarterfinals on Friday. She was unavailable for comment, but it's safe to say the 112-pound athlete is ready to go. She's already in the history books, now just let her compete!

YES WE CAN. YES WE WILL.


An overwhelming number of Americans elected President Obama and millions still support him, but too many of us do so silently. 

If the progressive agenda we elected the President to achieve is to be successful, we must help the President achieve it.  

We cannot allow the media to report from negative positions without challenge.  Just as others demonstrate their hatred and disrespect of President Obama, we must actively demonstrate our support.

We call on ALL who support President Obama to take action.  On August 4th, the President's birthday, we ask those who support him to wear any campaign item from the Presidential election as a demonstration of our ongoing support. Bring out your old campaign paraphernalia. 


If you don't have caps, buttons or tee shirts, wear a red, white, and blue tri-color ribbon or clothing on August 4th.  If nothing else, this simple demonstration of support for our President will provide a counteraction to the negativity that spews forth daily.  We can do this.  YES WE CAN. YES WE WILL.

i.e. if your PIN # is 1254, you punch 4521.The moment you punch in the reverse mode, the money will come out, but will be stuck into the machine half way out and it will alert the Police (security) without the notice of
the thief. Every ATM has it; it is specially made to signify danger and help. Not everyone is aware of this.

LORD PROP US UP...

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old fellow who always prayed, 'Lord, prop us up on our leanin' side.' After hearing him pray that prayer many times, someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so fervently.

He answered, 'Well sir, you see, it's like this.... I got an old barn out back. It's been there a long time; it's withstood a lot of weather; it's gone through a lot of storms, and it's stood for many years.

It's still standing. But one day I noticed it was leaning to one side a bit.

So I went and got some pine poles and propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall.

Then I got to thinking about that and how much I was like that old barn.. I've been around a long time..

I've withstood a lot of life's storms. I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life, I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing too. But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time, so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side, 'cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning at times.

Sometimes we get to leaning toward anger, leaning toward bitterness leaning toward hatred, leaning toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that we shouldn't . So we need to pray, 'Lord, prop us up on our leaning side, so we will stand straight and tall again, to glorify the Lord.''

What has America Become?

Society has managed to manipulate facts to fit what they want when they need it. Nothing is wrong with belief or strong conviction; but when your application hurts someone else, but its in the name of good. Does that make it right?. The problem that I have,  is that people find a way to free their own minds, at the cost of others. Years ago everything was face to face communication, now with the ease of automation,  the essential now falls in how fast your computer can do a background check!

The demented, and twisted souls that treat the world like a chess game, is why we now wonder what has America become...

She Wanted Butt Shots like Nicki Minaj, Now She’s Dead

A 20-year-old British student is dead after flying to Philadelphia with friends to undergo a “must-have” butt injection procedure.
In Hackney, East London, where Claudia Aderotimi was born, butt injections are illegal. They’re illegal in the U.S. too, but authorities here have done nothing to stop the unlicensed, dangerous practice.
Claudia and her friends thought it would be a simple procedure. What could go wrong? The “clinic” was in the shadow of a big city hospital — the same hospital where she was eventually pronounced dead.
 But Claudia knew something went wrong hours after the operation when she felt horrible pains in he

r chest. She was rushed a block away to the hospital, where she died at 1.32 a.m. on Tuesday.
The “clinic” where Claudia and her friends went chasing their dreams was inside a seedy Philadelphia motel room. The unlicensed street technician is still being sought by police who are certain she didn’t use sterile technique. They are also certain she didn’t use medical grade hydrogel or silicone, which are difficult to obtain outside of a hospital setting without a doctor’s order.
Claudia had aspirations of appearing in music videos, like her idols, the video vixens who advertise their talents on Twitter.com. Claudia thought that in order to qualify to appear in rap music videos today, she must have a butt as big as Nicki’s or Esther Baxter’s or Keyshia Dior’s.
All Claudia wanted was a few injections to fill out the curves that she already had, she told friends. She thought the butt shots would make her famous, heartbroken pals say.

Like most young black women today, Claudia’s self-worth and identity are defined by a big butt and breast implants. They don’t know any better because their idols don’t know any better. It’s a vicious cycle.
Now that the eyes of the world are on the U.S., maybe Congress will take some action to put a stop to this hydrogel epidemic that is killing our beautiful black women and turning them into deformed walking mannequins.

The unspoken word

A Pastor had noticed that one of his church members had not been attending church for 3 weeks. The pastor called him and spoke with the gentleman several times to keep in touch, but every Sunday he expected to see him, the member did not show up.

The pastor decided to just pop in and see him one Saturday. When the pastor arrived the member invited him in they spoke briefly and they both sat in front of the fire place and watched the glow and felt the warmth of the fire. Several minutes passed as the pastor and the member sat never saying a word. The pastor walked to the fire place where a intense flame was flickering. The pastor grabbed a poker and he pulled a single amber of coal and set it aside from the other. The fire continued burning even after the single piece was pulled out... They both watched as the single piece of coal eventually burned out.

The pastor then grabbed the poker and moved the single coal back with the other pieces, and within a few minutes the coal had began to burn brightly again. The pastor sat for a few more minutes and said " thanks for the visit, I got to go".

When they made it to the door the member told the pastor "thanks for the unspoke word", I will be at church tomorrow!

 In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah on her 70+ birthday.. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older.
And, there on television, she said it was 'exciting...'


Regarding body changes, she said there were many, occurring every day....like her breasts. They seem to be in a race to see which will reach her waist, first.

The audience laughed so hard they cried. She is such a simple and honest woman, with so much wisdom in her words!
