Memphis in Final Four

Finally after 23 years of not making the Final Four the Memphis Tigers has made it again. Memphis continues to fight for their respect, everyone keeps writing them off, yet they still keep wining. This is the first time in NCAA history that all four number one seeds made it to the final four.
Memphis is the team to beat in this game, thier persistant defense and drives to the rim should give them the edge.

Memphis (37-1) takes on UCLA 35-3.

while Kansas (35-3) takes on North Carolina 36-2. North Carolina is my pick to take Kansas

Memphis tigers won again

The Memphis Tigers won again. Who are these guys? They are ranked number #1 in their bracket and their record (36-1) not bad. The sports world continue to predict that one team will beat the tigers. Although the naysayers have not seen it yet, the anticiapation is building with each game. Don't forget this is the third straight year Calipari's team has made it this far The two previous trips ended in the regional finals. Even though they held the longest winning streak 21 straight, means nothing. The rumors that Memphis would be the first number 1 seat to be eliminated has not happened and and if you don't believe me ask UT- Arlington, Mississippi St or Michigan St, each team lost at the hands of the Tigers.

The overwheming fact may have to be acknowledged that Memphis is not only a good team but a force to be recognized. Memphis coach John Calipari said. "That everyone believes that we were going to get outplayed, outcoached, outskilled, outhustled, out-this, out-that, and we can't shoot free throws." Although whenever the buzzer sounds and Memphis wins, a new team is already picked to beat the Tigers.

Now comes Texas, you know if Memphis beats them they are in the Final Four, will they be considered good then?

Over developed kids, are in the news

Recently in the news I heard this story about a 12-year-old girl dancing nude at a strip club. I was appalled to hear this had happened. The first question that came to my mind was what did she say to get that job? Or did she act out a dance scene from a music video that she had saw on BET, and got hired on the spot. The owner said she looked 18, maybe with all that bumping and grinding, he was not listening to the right head?
In 2006 I went to my children's middle school for a teachers parent conference when they were 12 and I swear their were at least 6 young ladies that I saw at that school, that definitely looked older than my twins. I found myself asking more than once how old are those girls? Much to my surprise my daughters would say 12. So it has become quite apparent that boy and girls are over-developing at a young age.
The key is, as a parent you have to protect and educate your children so that this thing can not happen again..

Richardson Joins Obama

Former presidential candidate and governor of New Mexico has decided to endorse Obama.
Governor Richardson had been wooed by the Clinton's but in the end, Mr. Richardson said his“affection and admiration for Hillary & Bill Clinton will never waver,” but there’s something special about this guy,” Mr. Richardson said of Mr. Obama and that's why I am supporting him".
Richardson endorsement could add to Obamas credibility among Hispanics, as well as among Democratic super delegates whose choices could prove decisive if neither candidate can claim 2,025 delegates to win. Obama, has stopped Clinton from building momentum by consistently wining, and gaining more super delegates.

Richardson choose Obama despite his close ties to the Clintons. He served as energy secretary and U.N. ambassador in Bill Clinton's administration, and the former president joined Richardson to watch last month's Super Bowl.
But when it came time to decide, Richardson said Obama "will be a historic and great president, who can bring us the change we so desperately need by bringing us together as a nation here at home and with our allies abroad."

The Clinton campaign, was looking forward for revotes in Florida and Michigan to support their claims of big wins in big states. Since the revote issue has been shot down, the point of no return is coming quickly. If it becomes inevitable that neither candidate can win and we pick one, will Clintons supporters support Obama or will Obama supporters support support Clinton? Possibly the only way to resolve this issue, one elects the other to becomes VP.

What are Obama & Hilary really debating on?

Everyday I listen to the candidates debate on how they will make changes to the world and make it a better place to live. The Iraq War is the hot topic right now, everyone has a plan to end it quickly. Although, the war the US is having is not actually with Iraq, its with the rising cost of living and how it is creating havoc on the lives of blue collar workers.
In 2003, that was the year Bush pumped up the US to go to war with Iraq. The theory of the war was to control oil prices, dethrone Saddam, avenge 9/11 and catch Bin Laden. What did the war allow us to accomplish? We caught Saddam but we lost 5,000 of our American troops. 5 years later we have not captured Bin Laden and the havoc of record high gas and food prices is crippling the american economy! You see when I pump gas it is $3.29 a gallon. Milk at $4.02 a gallon is higher than gasoline. The cost of living has gradually increased since we started the war with Iraq and continues to reach record highs each day.
So after weighing the options of what we attempted to accomplish, by starting the war. Now we need to figure out what we are going to accomplish by ending the war. Just quiting is not enough, we need a plan with actions on lowering the gas and food prices in the United States. The candidates plan should contain information on improving the economy, a time- line of how long it will take and a detailed discription of how taxed will be lowered and incomes/ increased.
The trickle down effect of fighting with a country that has all the oil hurt the United States, and we are paying for it each and everyday. So we don't need any more hot air, if you don't have a clue ask somebody! Americans can not take 4 more years of this!

Obama new speach

I unfortunately did not get to hear all of the speech but what I did hear was very poignant. His new speech was offering clarity on the recent attack on Pastor Jeremiah Wright Jr. The media main point was they wanted Obama to completely disown Pastor Wright and the church that he had been attending for the past 20 years. Obama key points was that he did not agree with something he heard from his pastor, but the man was considered family in his life and he would not disown him like he would not disown his white grandmother because of her fear of black people walking by or her making racial comments.

Every week Obama has to defend who he is and what he believes in. To give a few examples the first is:

1. Is he black enough? Because he has a white mother that makes the man not black enough?

2. Is he to white? Now that's a first, no matter how white you act you can believe one thing white people will never let you forget you are black.

3. Is he Muslim? I think that has truly been established from him attending his Christin base church for 20 years.

I am not surprise that he is receiving such attention, he is the first black american who may get the democratic nomination. Should we expect anything less?

MARCH MADNESS IS NOW IN EFFECT

March madness is here again this might be one of the best seasons yet.
The four number one seeds are North Carolina, Kansas, Memphis and UCLA.
Tennessee has done something very unique, they have team in each bracket. East bracket is Tennessee, Midwest is Vanderbilt, South is Memphis and west is Belmont. Wouldn't it be great if it were a Tennessee year? Watch out for Memphis and Tennessee I think that these teams have a good shot to make the sweet 16, so everyone buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Murder in Memphis...

When I moved to Memphis, TN in 2003 I thought it would be a great place to make a name for myself. I heard about the city and its reputation, its said to be a tough town. I generally am not a news watcher but imagine my horror, my first week in Memphis the news reported 7 murders in July. I was wondering what did I get myself into? Within the last couple of months Memphis is gaining star status not from Beale street or the Blues, but from "murder".

The Lester Street Killing
was a massacre that involved 4 adults and 2 children . This happened because Jessie Dotson, 33 who was released from prison August 2007 for murder; had a disagreement with his bother Cecil Dotson and killed him and everyone in the house so they could not identify him. His mistake was that 2 children survived the attack and identified hims as the killer.
Once again Memphis keeps gaining attentions for what they continue to do, and that is kill. Memphis has gain a reputation for having filed more Bankruptcy's, having the most obese children and one of the most stressful cities to live in.

To make matters worse, on February 12, 2008 30-year-old James Hawkins had chopped off his girlfriends head, hand and feet so that the body could not be identified and then dumped the body into Mississippi River. The sad point to this story is that the father murdered his girlfriend in front of their daughter and made her help him to dispose of the body.

One last story to ad fuel to the fire, their have been 2 separate incidents of school shootings over a disagreement. Now kids don't fight any more/they shoot. Even when they do fight if the loser is not satisfied with the outcome he or she may still want to get a gun. The problem that we are having in today's society is that not enough men or women are stepping up and being parents ! Without the leadership of parent guiding his son or daughter down the road to success they will continue to end up in trouble or in jail.

The reason that I wrote the story is what will Mayor Herenton do to solve this problem that is plaguing Memphis ? I wish that it was only a Memphis problem but when you look at the top 10 list of dangerous cities Memphis is number 6 . So what is that telling you, the world is in turmoil and all these violent crimes being committed every day is is a sign of the times!

Tornado Photos of *Atlanta*

Deadly tornado hits Atlanta while about 18,000 people were watching the Southeastern Conference men's tournament Friday night at the Georgia Dome when its fabric roof began rippling, the catwalks above the court started swaying and chunks of insulation rained onto the players. The city were two deaths and about 30 injurys.

The F2 tornado generated winds up to 130 mph, cut a 6-mile path through downtown Atlanta, smashing hundreds of windows in and around the CNN Center, blowing furniture and luggage out of hotel rooms and crumbling part of an apartment building.

Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine estimated damage from Friday night's storm at $150 million to $200 million. He said at least $100 million of the damage was at the Georgia World Congress Center, a state convention facility near the CNN Center and the Georgia Dome.

Obama's Pastor No Longer Serving on Campaign

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose sermons have created firestorm of controversy, is no longer formally tied to Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign, an Obama spokesman said late on March 14,2008.The move follows calls for Obama to sever connections to Wright after news outlets began airing some of the pastor's past sermons.

Among the more inflammatory remarks from Wright are suggestions the U.S. brought the Sept. 11 attacks on itself and that the government had a role in spreading the AIDS virus in the black community. Obama said he sharply condemns such comments and that he never heard those kinds of sermons from Wright. He also said he doesn't plan to leave the church. Sometimes change is tough and he has attended the church for over 20 years and I can understand why he does not want to leave, a mistake is just that/something that happened. The ideal that these comments are from 2001 and Obama is expected to remember them in 2008 is crazy. I mean he has manage to hear 364 different sermons, been in 21 democratic debates, and we have to count all his other obligations that he has participated in the past 7 years, wow. Who ever dug up this information is good, he really put sometime and effort in that task. Although is Obama wrong because of his Pastors opinions 7 years ago?

I feel that Obama did the right thing, he did not end his friendship but he had to cut his political ties with Wright or it would really hinder his chances of running for President.

Ferraro: Say "They are attacking her Because she is white"

Geraldine Ferraro says Obama would not be a candidate if he were white. The comment does not give the american people credit for knowing who and what a good candidate is. So for all the white american people who believe in Obama whats wrong with them can they not see? Or has the
United States been taking in by Obama beautiful black skin. Funny Why didn't Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton have the same effect? They are black right? Although after Ferraro attack on Obama because he is black, she raises a white flag stating "he attacked her because she was white". Ms Ferraro thats far from the truth, you threw the first rock. I wonder if you had not opened your big mouth would you still have your job? I don't think Obama would have even acknowledged you. Since Obama attacked you because you were white does that mean Clinton was attacking you because you were a woman because she disagreed with you?

Your thoughts are absurd, and that is why the citizens of the United States are looking for a change. You may not be prejudice but your kind of backward thinking is what we are trying to get away from...

N.Y. Eliot Spitzer has stepped down as governor and apologizes after he was linked to prostitution ring, of course this was the same gentleman who made it his life to catch the bad guys, now look at him.
I don't know if anyone is really is looking at the picture but at the time that he was locking up the bad guys for the same thing, he was getting his freak on. His inauguration as governor did not stop his lust for prostitution.

Governor Spitzer wife has stuck with him when it is obvious of her hurt and destivation, many women say that they would leave. What would you as women do?

1) Would you stand by your man?

2) Throw everything away, with divorce?

Obama Vice President?

After hearing Hillary Clinton suggestion that she did not think that Obama was ready to be president; but then makes a statement that he would be a perfect candidate for vice-president contradicts what she said. The point that he is good enough to be number 2 but not good enough to be number one does not add up. The dream team concept is a great ideal, almost a guaranteed winner if they team up. The issues at hand is that Hillary is saying that Obama is not qualified to be number one, but he would be great for number 2, What? I like Obamas come back "How can number 2 offer number one a position"? Why beat a person down one minute then build praise them the next?

The super delegates vote Clinton has 237, Obama 207. Pledge votes Obama 1404 and Clinton 1243. Total for Obama 1,611 and Clinton 1,480. This means this race is close, we had a race like this 8 years ago when Bush became president.
Over all Clinton has won where she needed to win, in the big states. Obama has won more poplar votes. He has done something that no other black man in history has ever done, he has transcended race. His message is clear and he not only has black votes, he is gaining votes from all races. This is not a black man running for President but a man with a plan... "Change"
I like Clinton, she is a strong candidate and will I will support her if Obama does not get the nod.
Personally Obama or Clinton will would make a great President, or Vice-President. I am just waiting to see who.
Can any one tell me why the Republican Nomination needs less votes?
