The life behind bars

The life behind bars is something that I hope you never experience. Loosing seconds, minutes, hours, days weeks, months and years that you can never regain is such a waste. Without strength and perserverance the average person breaks under pressure.
I was locked up for 8 years and to be honest where I was locked up it was called little Vietnam, it was a young gladiator school. Everything that you saw on the streets existed behind those bars. Gangs, drugs, prostitution, rape and murder. I saw men come in one day and were girls the next. The Shaw Shank Redemption was a close portray of prison life. When you get locked up while you are locked up, that means you don't follow rules good. I meet one guy that was in the hole for 8 years and had 8 more years left just to get back in the prison population, he was that violent! For the time I was locked up my time was utilized, I went to school and I made it a point to learn. I made a promise to myself that I was never going to get caught up in the system again. So now its been 18 years now that I have been free in my mind, body and soul I am achieving peace within...
