Public Health insurance option

A public health insurance option (public insurance option or public option for short) is a proposed health insurance plan that would be offered by the U.S. federal government. In Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962), and its predecessor H.R. 3200, it will be a Qualified Health Benefit Plan competing with similar private insurance plans in an Internet based exchange or market place, enabling citizens and small businesses to purchase health insurance meeting the minimum federal standard. Persons covered by other employer plans or by state insurance plans such as Medicare will not be eligible to obtain coverage from the exchange and therefore cannot obtain this form of federal health insurance. The federal government's health insurance plan will be financed entirely by premiums without subsidy from the Federal government. [1] The plans stated in the Senate HLP Committee and H.R. 3962, the two that contain clauses establishing a public insurance option, require the repayment of "seed money" to the Treasury over a ten year period.[2]

I don't know if I agree with this public option ideal, but one thing that I do know is that millions of people are running around this country without health insurance. The word for today is to bring the cost of health insurance down. Conservatives seem to believe that if we can have open competing of insurance companies across state lines, it would drive the cost of insurance down. Reality is that we have needed this years ago... I personally believe that if their was a true regulation on the health cost across the board that insurance could be affordable for everyone. What good does it do to make $50,000 dollars a year and you can not afford to provide insurance for your family. When a man has to make the decision to eat or have insurance, and he choose to eat, when does some one step up and say wait minute that is not right.

Life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, anything less than that needs to be changed, by any means possible!

Now it seems that once every 2 or 3 months you hear about another woman who got caught-up and she is looking like a fool! Many of these women are very attractive and it leaves me saying wow. Maybe society has changed to allow women to think that this kind of behavior is the norm now.
What ever the case the problem, it is becoming more open and apparent. I just have to ask is their no shame?

Why Choose A Hard Money Loan

Why do most people chose a Hard Money? Actually because they can not obtain traditional financing. Generally speaking there are two types of financing that a person can obtain obtain Prime and Subprime.

First, all loans Prime or Subprime needs ICE (Income, Credit and Equity) to get approved and to close. So What is a Prime Loan? This is a loan that offers the best rates and situations for the borrower who falls into the category of having a credit over 675, income and equity. He basically fits all guidelines of that lender.

A sub-prime lender is one who made loans to borrowers who did not qualify for loans from mainstream lenders. Some were independent, but most were affiliates of mainstream lenders operating under different names. I use the past tense because at the time of the most recent revision of this article, virtually all sub-prime lenders had disappeared.

Although there is no single, standard definition, in the United States subprime loans are usually classified as those where the borrower has a FICO score below 640.

So now comes the question what is a hard money loan? Hard Money loan is a specific type of asset-based loan financing through which a borrower receives funds secured by the value of a parcel of real estate. Hard money loans are typically issued at much higher interest rates than conventional commercial or residential property loans and are almost never issued by a commercial bank or other deposit institution. Hard money is similar to a bridge loan, which usually has similar criteria for lending as well as cost to the borrowers. The primary difference is that a bridge loan often refers to a commercial property or investment property that may be in transition and does not yet qualify for traditional financing, whereas hard money often refers to not only an asset-based loan with a high interest rate, but possibly a distressed financial situation, such as arrears on the existing mortgage, or where bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings are occurring.

Many hard money mortgages are made by private investors, generally in their local areas. Usually the credit score of the borrower is not important, as the loan is secured by the value of the collateral property. Typically, the maximum loan to value ratio is 65–70%. That is, if the property is worth $100,000, the lender would advance $65,000–70,000 against it. This low LTV provides added security for the lender, in case the borrower does not pay and they have to foreclose on the property.

A hard money loan is a species of real estate loan collateralized against the quick-sale value of the property for which the loan is made. Most lenders fund in the first lien position, meaning that in the event of a default, they are the first creditor to receive remuneration. Occasionally, a lender will subordinate to another first lien position loan; this loan is known as a mezzanine loan

or second lien.

Hard money lenders structure loans based on a percentage of the quick-sale value of the subject property. This is called the loan-to-value or LTV ratio and typically hovers between 60 and 70% of the market value of the property. For the purpose of determining an LTV, the word "value" is defined as "today's purchase price." This is the amount a lender could reasonably expect to realize from the sale of the property in the event that the loan defaults and the property must be sold in a one- to four-month timeframe. This value differs from a market value appraisal, which assumes an arms-length transaction in which neither buyer nor seller is acting under duress.

Below is an example of how a commercial real estate purchase might be structured by a hard money lender:

65% Hard money (Conforming loan)
20% Borrower equity (cash or additional collateralized real estate)
15% Seller carryback loan or other subordinated (mezzanine) loan

Hard Money is a term that is used almost exclusively in the United States and Canada where these types of loans are most common. In commercial real estate, hard money developed as an alternative "last resort" for property owners seeking capital against the value of their holdings. The industry began in the late 1950s when the credit industry in the U.S. underwent drastic changes (see FDIC: Evaluating the Consumer Revolution).

The hard money industry suffered severe setbacks during the real estate crashes of the early 1980s and early 1990s due to lenders overestimating and funding properties at well over market value. Since that time, lower LTV rates have been the norm for hard money lenders seeking to protect themselves against the market's volatility. Today, high interest rates are the mark of hard money loans as a way to compensate lenders for the considerable risk that they undertake.

Commercial hard money is similar to traditional hard money, but may sometimes be more expensive as the risk is higher on investment property or non-owner occupied properties. Commercial Hard Money Loans may not be subject to the same consumer loan safeguards as a residential mortgage may be in the state the mortgage is issued. Commercial hard money loans are often short term and therefore interchangeably referred to as bridge loans or bridge financing.

Commercial hard money lender and bridge lender programs are similar to traditional hard money in terms of loan to value requirements and interest rates. A commercial hard money or bridge lender will usually be a strong financial institution that has large deposit reserves and the ability to make a discretionary decision on a non-conforming loan. These borrowers are usually not conforming to the standard Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac or other residential conforming credit guidelines. Since it is a commercial property, they usually do not conform to a standard commercial loan guideline either. The property and or borrowers may be in financial distress, or a commercial property may simply not be complete during construction, have its building permits in place, or simply be in good or marketable conditions for any number of reasons.

Some private investment groups or bridge capital groups will require joint venture or sale-lease back requirements to the riskiest transactions that have a high likelihood of default. Private Investment groups may temporarily offer bridge or hard money, allowing the property owner to buy back the property within only a certain time period. If the property is not bought back by purchase or sold within the time period the commercial hard money lender may keep the property at the agreed to price.

Traditional commercial hard money loan programs are very high risk and have a higher than average default rate. If the property owner defaults on the commercial hard money loan, they may lose the property to foreclosure. If they have exhausted bankruptcy previously, they may not be able to gain assistance through bankruptcy protection. The property owner may have to sell the property in order to satisfy the lien from the commercial hard money lender, and to protect the remaining equity on the property.

From inception, the hard money field has always been formally unregulated by state or federal laws, although some restrictions on interest rates (usury laws) by state governments restrict the rates of hard money such that operations in several states, including Tennessee and Arkansas are virtually untenable for lending firms.

Hard Money Mortgage loans are generally more expensive than traditional sub-prime mortgages. However all mortgage loans are not necessarily considered to be a high cost mortgage. Generally a hard money loan carries additional risk that a borrower is aware of. Rather than selling the property a borrower will opt to keep the loan and if a lender is willing to assume some of the risk by offering a hard money loan.

The rate is not dependent on the Bank Rate. It is instead more dependent on the real estate market and availability of hard money credit. As of 2008 and for the past decade hard money has ranged from the mid 12%–21% range[1]}}. When a borrower defaults they may be charged a higher "Default Rate". That rate can be as high as allowed by law, which may go up to or around 25%–29%. Some private lenders will collect a prepayment penalty and some will not.

Points on a hard money loan are traditionally 1 to 3 more than a traditional loan, which would amount to 3 to 6 points on the average hard loan. It is very common for a commercial hard money loan to be upwards of four points and as high as 10 points. The reason a borrower would pay that rate is to avoid imminent foreclosure or a "quick sale" of the property. That could amount to as much as a 30% or more discount as is common on short sales. By taking a short term bridge or hard money loan, the borrower often saves equity and extends his time to get his affairs in order to better manage the property.

All hard money borrowers are advised to use a professional real estate attorney to assure the property is not given away by way of a late payment or other default without benefit of traditional procedures that would require a court judgement.

Now with all that information, the two reasons that people choose hard money loans.

1. Temporary Financing

2. They need Immediate financing .

3. They can not obtain traditional financing.

Mindy Lawton makes a new claim that she slept with Tiger

Mindy Lawton, a 34-year-old waitress, claims to have had a year-long affair with Tiger Woods filled with regular sex in a range of locations. The Daily Mail writes that the pair met in the summer of 2006 at a diner where Lawton worked.

According to Lawton, Woods is quite the lover. He is "very well endowed" and "knows his way around the bedroom. On a scale of ten I would give him 12," she tells News of the World. Lawton's sister, Lynn, adds that Mindy described their sex as "extremely good."

Woods was fond of sleeping with her in numerous locations -- from parking lots to the shower to the garage -- but the golfer refused to have sex in his bedroom.

Lawton also says that Woods has a particular passion for the color red, which he is known to wear on Sundays at golf tournaments. But according to Lawton, that isn't the only place he enjoys the color:

Who cares? It does not matter if it was one or 30 the point is he did it and nothing is going to change.

Tigers woods action created a reaction

They say for every action creates a reaction. Who would have known that when the National Enquirer’s made a allegations of Tiger Woods affair with Rachel Uchitel, that the action of reporting would cause a reaction of violence by Elin Woods? So then the action that was created by Tiger Woods Created a action by the National Enquirer, who had to report that juicy gossip, who then created a action of arguments by his wife, which created a reaction by Tiger to storm out of the house at 2:30 am and hit a fire hydrant which caused a reaction from his neighbor to call the police because of the wreck. This then created an action by his wife to go out side and bust out the window and drag her unconscious husband from the SUV. Now this action by the wife created a reaction by the police who was curious as to where was Tiger woods going at 2:30 am? Now the police action created a reaction in the media about by his wife and this Rachel Uchitel that maybe just maybe she was his mistress. Now Rachel Uchitel action was to deny, deny, deny, and when she finished giving an interview deny some more. So her action created a reaction from other girls who decided to tell all! So from other women action of kiss and tell, Rachel Uchitel reacted, and begin to tell all.

Now Tigers actions created a reaction from his wife he wants the pre-nup rewritten. Also the reaction from the wife cause a reaction from Tiger to undergo
intense therapy to improve the once perfect marriage.

The action is now that you created this mess, the only reaction you should have now is how am I going to fix it!

Popthatzit is making acne popular!

I found this website today called popthatzit.com and was shocked, that it is dedicated to the repulsive of things, popping a zit! Ugh, maybe I am strange but to be honest, who would think that millions of people can not wait to see who has acne next.

Acne occurs most commonly during adolescence, affecting more than 89% of teenagers, and frequently continues into adulthood. In adolescence, acne is usually caused by an increase in male sex hormones, which people of both genders accrue during puberty.[2] For most people, acne diminishes over time and tends to disappear—or at the very least decrease—after one reaches one's early twenties. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take to disappear entirely, and some individuals will carry this condition well into their thirties, forties and beyond.[3]

Aside from scarring, its main effects are psychological, such as reduced self-esteem[5] and, according to at least one study, depression or suicide.[6] Early and aggressive treatment is therefore advocated by some to lessen the overall impact to individuals.[5]

I found this product and it helped me considering that I was not a teenager any more "After I incorporated several of your suggestions into my daily life I have seen a REMARKEBLE difference in my acne! 6 weeks into the program and I was left with not a pimple on my face. Not only did it clear my face but it completely cleared my blackheads and helped remove the dark spots. If you are tired of the day in and day out battle with acne" Click Here!.

I was fortunate that I did not have severe acne, but every now and then I do get boils. So what is a boil? A boil is a localized infection deep in the skin. A boil generally starts as a reddened, tender area. Now I found one thing in particular that helps with getting rid of a boil. The first thing is you could go to a doctor like the young man in the video did and let a doctor lance the boil and squeeze that crap out. I know for a fact that it hurts like heck, and that's not high on my solution list. The second is quite simple and not as expensive, its called campho phenique. Dip a Q-tip into the campho phenique, apply it to the infected area then cover the area with a band aid. It generally take 2 days but you will see a significant reduction in the boil. Hey, don't take my word just look at the video again and again and if you like pain; go that route!

Desirée Glapion Rogers is in the news

Desirée Glapion Rogers is an American public relations executive. In November 2008 she was selected by Barack Obama's office as the White House Social Secretary for the incoming administration, the first African American to serve in this function.[1][2]

Rogers was born on June 16, 1959 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is the daughter of the late Roy Glapion and his wife Joyce. Her father was the former director of sports for the New Orleans Public Schools and a member of the New Orleans City Council. Her mother ran day-care centers. She has one brother, Roy A. Rogers was named twice as queen of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club, a Mardi Gras krewe dating back to 1916. She was first queen in 1988. Her father was instrumental in leading the krewe from a dwindling band of fewer than 100 black men in the early 1970s to a robust, financially healthy and racially integrated krewe by the 1990s. Glapion served variously as finance chairman, president and chairman of the Zulu board. In 2000 Rogers reprised the reign in honor of her father, who died in 1999. Rogers' mother, Joyce Glapion, now retired, was also active in Carnival. [21]

Rogers is an Obama family friend. Her former husband is John W. Rogers, Jr., Obama's Inaugural Co-Chair, who was also a former teammate of Michelle Obama's brother Craig Robinson on the Princeton University basketball team. Rogers' brother and mother still live in New Orleans.

Rogers is a survivor of breast cancer, following a diagnosis in 2003.[3]

According to an interview last year with The HistoryMakers, an African-American oral history project, Rogers' favorite saying is "laissez le bon temps rouler."[8]

How did this happen?

WASHINGTON – A reality TV hopeful and her husband who crashed a presidential dinner met President Barack Obama in the receiving line, the White House said Friday, as a "deeply concerned and embarrassed" Secret Service acknowledged its officers failed to check whether the couple was on the guest list.

The White House released a photo showing Michaele and Tareq Salahi in the receiving line in the Blue Room with Obama and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, in whose honor the dinner was held. Obama and Michaele Salahi, a candidate for Bravo's "The Real Housewives of D.C.," are smiling as she grasps his right hand with both of hers and her husband looks on. Singh is standing to the Obama's left.

The Secret Service earlier this week had said the president was not in danger because the Virginia couple — like others at the dinner — had gone through magnetometers. But in light of their close proximity to the president, no such claim was made Friday.

The Salahis were not on the guest list and should have been prohibited from entering last Tuesday's dinner on the White House South Lawn for the prime minister of India, said Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan.

On Friday, Sullivan was apologetic in a written statement, saying the agency that protects the president is "deeply concerned and embarrassed" that procedures were not followed.

"As our investigation continues, appropriate measures have been taken to ensure this is not repeated," Sullivan said.

Secret Service spokesman Jim Mackin said officers at the checkpoint had a clipboard with names of the invited guests. Even though the Salahis names weren't on it, they were allowed to proceed. The officers should have called either someone on the White House staff or Secret Service personnel before allowing them past the checkpoint, Mackin said.

Earlier, Mackin said the Secret Service may pursue a criminal investigation of the Salahis.

Sullivan said, "The preliminary findings of our internal investigation have determined established protocols were not followed at an initial checkpoint, verifying that two individuals were on the guest list.

"Although these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of screening, they should have been prohibited from entering the event entirely. That failing is ours," he said.

Sullivan said it wasn't good enough that his agency screened more than 1.2 million visitors last year to the White House complex and protected more than 10,000 sites for the president, vice president and others.

"Even with these successes, we need to be right 100 percent of the time," he said. "While we have protocols in place to address these situations, we must ensure that they are followed each and every time."

It is unclear what the couple told officers at the checkpoint that allowed them to go through the security screening. Federal law makes it a crime to knowingly and willfully falsify statements on matters within the federal government's jurisdiction.

"As this moves closer to a criminal investigation there's less that we can say," Mackin said. "I don't want to jeopardize what could be a criminal investigation. We're not leaving any option off the table at this point."

White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said the Secret Service will take appropriate action once the review is completed.

"The men and women of the Secret Service put their lives on the line everyday to protect us. They are heroes and they have the full confidence of the president of the United States," Shapiro said.

The Salahis lawyer, Paul Gardner, posted a comment on their Facebook page saying, "My clients were cleared by the White House, to be there." He said more information would be forthcoming.

Several messages left at Gardner's law firm on Friday were not immediately returned.

Bravo Media has confirmed that Michaele Salahi is being considered as a participant in the upcoming "The Real Housewives of D.C." program and on the day of the dinner was being filmed around Washington by Half Yard Productions, the producer of the program.

"Half Yard Productions was told by Michaele and Tareq Salahi that they had been invited to the State Dinner. We took them at their word and filmed their preparations for the event. Half Yard Productions had no part in planning their presence at the event," said Abby Greensfelder of Half Yard Productions.

Photos on the couple's Facebook page they previously had gotten close to Obama. One photo, apparently taken in the days before Obama took the oath of office, shows the Salahis in a group shot with Obama and some of the musicians who performed at an inaugural concert.

Other photos show the Salahis in the empty, glass-enclosed box from which the Obamas watched the concert and, according to the caption, "backstage with the Secret Service at the Lincoln Memorial during the Presidential Inauguration."

Shaquille O' Neal paid for funneral of Shaniya Davis

Basketball star Shaquille O'Neal has paid for the funeral of a 5-year-old North Carolina girl whose kidnapping and slaying received national news coverage.

The Fayetteville Observer in North Carolina reported Thursday that the Cleveland Cavaliers player was touched by the case of Shaniya Davis.

More than 2,000 people attended her funeral Sunday. The girl's body was found Nov. 10 beside a rural road.

Her mother, Antionette Davis, is charged with human trafficking and child abuse involving prostitution. Mario McNeill is charged with murder, rape and kidnapping.

I am so impressed with O' Neal for the effort to help the family after the mother allowed this to happen to her daughter. You have to wonder what was going through the mothers head to allow such an action to take place? but then what about this sick jerk who committed this action. He deserves the death penalty, yesterday!

They called it justice

They called this justice when the Child Support Court sent me a court date that I never received and imposed $700 dollars a month in child support payment. Please understand that my life was forever altered by Tennessee disregard for me being able to support myself. The first time that I received a rude awakening from the Child Support Court; is when they automatically assumed that because I did not show up for my court date that, I did not want to be there! It is funny that if a man does not show up to Court that he automatically elected not to come to Court... Although if a woman does not show up to court she did not receive the paper work and they must refile that court date. That is the crap that they call justice.

I suppose my justice would have been different if I did not have children by two different women in two different states. So imagine my surprise when one judge said that because Tennessee filed first, that the child had first position on taxing my income. Then imagine Indiana saying that because the children were born first, that they had first position on taxing my income. Now my issue is that they both called that justice when they taxed my income without any acknowledgment of each other! As a matter of fact they between the two states they took all of my income left me with a check for $2.45 after I had made $1600 dollars for that two week period.

I did however have the opportunity to go back to Court only for the judges in both situations lower payment to 500 dollars each. While both judges said that I needed to work a second job, so that I could pay my bills. Although years later the Courts ruled that it was unconstitutional to take all of a person pay check and not leave him anything to live on! What a strange coincidence that the judges call that justice!

FaceBook finally turning a profit

Face book, the world’s largest social network on the Internet, is finally turning a profit, the privately held company said.

The Silicon Valley, California, company, which was started six years ago by a student at Harvard University, said late Tuesday that it had reached a positive cash flow for the first time and also passed the 300-million user mark.

The stratospheric growth in the site’s user base from 150 million at the start of the year, allowed the company to turn a profit earlier than the 2010 date it had previously predicted.

‘This is important to us because it sets Face book up to be a strong independent service for the long term,’ said Face book founder Mark Zuckerberg in a blog posting.

‘We are succeeding at building Face book in a sustainable way,’ he wrote. ‘We are just getting started on our goal of connecting everyone. We face a lot of fun and important challenges that require rethinking the current systems for enabling information flow across the web.’

The company has close to 1,000 employees and has received $600 million in financing. According to recent web figures, it is the fourth most-visited website in the US.

I never had an opportunity to be a part of Yahoo, Google, My Space, Face book or Twitter. These are Internet juggernauts and they have corner their portion of the internet. Now comes a new kid on the block, People String. So, what exactly is People String? It is a new social media site launched on September 23, 2009. They are making a bold attempt to compete with giants like Facebook by paying anyone and everyone to recruit members and grow its ranks.

People String is also working with companies who want to bypass the advertising giants and pay people directly for looking at their products/services. Quite a novel approach! The more people participate, the more companies will see this as a viable alternative to reaching their target audience.

It can potentially be quite lucrative, for those willing to recruit new members. They will earn a commissions for every person they recruit, get paid per item of advertising they look at, thus getting a percentage of revenues from everyone they recruit for life! For those not interested in recruiting others, the remaining income streams may be more to their liking and more are to be added over time.

Those who are interested can click HERE if they wish to take this company up on their offer.

The site is still at the "nuts and bolts stage" right now, but company representatives have assured me that the "lab rats" (as they are affectionately called) are hard at work to turn People String into a popular and fun social media site as membership grows.

This is the most important thing to remember People String Cost nothing to join and you can start earning instantly! Go to the site click here and try it out, the worst thing that could happen is you make some money, that not so bad is it?

Philip Morris ordered to pay $300 million to smoker

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A Florida jury on Thursday ordered cigarette maker Philip Morris USA to pay $300 million in damages to a 61-year-old ex-smoker named Cindy Naugle who is wheelchair-bound by emphysema.

The Broward Circuit Court jury assessed $56.6 million in past and future medical expenses against the company, part of Altria Group Inc, as well as $244 million in punitive damages.

The case is one of 8,000 lawsuits filed against tobacco companies by Florida smokers and their families.

Attorneys for Naugle, the sister of a former Fort Lauderdale mayor, said it's the largest Florida tobacco verdict to date.

"The jury saw her condition," Todd Falzone, who also represented Naugle, said in a statement. "We think that they felt it. She needed to rest for five minutes to catch her breath after making the 7 step walk to the witness stand."

Naugle started smoking in 1968 when she was 20 because she thought they "made her look older." After several attempts to quit, she stopped smoking in 1993 with the aid of a nicotine patch.

She requires 24-hour oxygen and must travel in a wheelchair because walking leaves her exhausted, her attorneys said.

I am not sure what to feel for this woman considering that her life has been restricted to a wheelchair. Now she was the one who put the cigarette to her lips and keep puffing on those death sticks. When did reality kick in 10, 20, or 3o years later? Don't get me wrong, the company should not have put nicotine in the cigarette to keep that level of addiction to the product. Although since they created that monster and now they have to pay the piper. I have a problem with a person getting hooked on a product and then wants someone to pay for their mistake... She created this issue in 1968 when she wanted to look older, now years later she wants someone to pay for her trying to look cute. I am sorry but my compassion level is low for one simple reason, she created her own monster. If second hand smoke was the cause tax the company and make them pay!

I found that these food help to suppress hunger?

How to Suppress Hunger By Eating Five Foods

image

Uncontrolled hunger and overeating can make even the best weight loss plans go awry. One way to reduce the risk of overeating and help keep hunger at bay is to eat frequent, small, meals throughout the day. This not only keeps the metabolism primed, but also reduces hunger that can lead to poor food choices. One option to reduce the risk of overeating is to eat foods that suppress hunger naturally. When it comes to controlling appetite, eating certain foods can help to reduce hunger cravings so that fewer overall calories are consumed throughout the day. What are some of these foods that suppress hunger naturally?

Almonds

To suppress hunger naturally, avoid high carb treats and snack on a handful of almonds instead. A study published in the journal Obesity showed that overweight women who ate two servings of almonds a day ended up consuming fewer overall calories. Although almonds are high in calories and fat, they’re also a good source of protein and fiber which helps to naturally suppress hunger. It’s also thought that some of the fat in almonds is not absorbed by the body, so the calories may not be completely utilized

Apples

Another way to get full without overloading on calories is to snack on an apple. A medium-sized apple has only seventy calories, and is a rich source of fiber. Apples are also a good source of pectin, an indigestible fiber that slows down the rate of stomach emptying – leading to a greater sense of satiety. To get the hunger suppressing benefit of an apple, eat it whole rather than as a juice so you can get less calories and more fiber.

Pine Nuts

Pine nuts are a good source of polyunsaturated fatty acids which cause secretion of two hormones that suppress hunger naturally – CCK and glucagons-like peptide. One study showed that women who ate pine nuts experienced twenty-nine percent less hunger. Because this effect lasted for up to four hours, these women took in fewer calories overall throughout the day.

Oatmeal

Eating a healthy breakfast is important for weight control and one of the best breakfast foods for naturally suppressing appetite is oatmeal. Oatmeal is fiber-rich and a good source of complex carbohydrates which help to stabilize insulin levels.Fiber-rich foods like oatmeal are slowly digested which means they reduce hunger cravings for longer periods of time. For greater benefits, choose old-fashioned oats or steel oats and avoid packets of instant oatmeal that are often loaded with sugar and calories.

Eggs

An egg has only sixty calories and its high protein content makes it a natural appetite suppressant. Studies have shown that people who eat eggs for breakfast, take in fewer overall calories. High protein foods such as eggs increase secretion of a peptide known as PYY which helps to suppress hunger naturally. Whether they’re scrambled, boiled, or poached, eggs are a good choice for breakfast or even a mid-day snack. The bottom line: add some of these foods to your daily diet and you’ll take in fewer calories overall, while still feeling full and satisfied.

Woman Faces 15 Years for Cutting Line at Walmart,

Heather Ellis of Kennett, Mo., has quite a story to tell. It all started nearly three years ago in a local Wal-Mart.

Ellis was shopping in the store with a cousin, and the two temporarily parted ways to find the shortest line. Seeing that the other line was moving faster, Ellis went to get in line with her cousin.

She was accused of cutting the line by a store employee, who then notified the security guard. According to Ellis, she was shoved by another customer, had her items pushed to the side and was shortchanged when she finally checked out. The police affidavit states that Ellis was belligerent, loud, abusive and cursing when she was told to leave the store by the assistant manager.

Ellis' aunt, Lily Blackmon, received a frantic call from her son and claims that when she arrived, her daughter's head was being repeatedly banged against the police car as she told officers that she wasn't resisting arrest. Blackmon, who was a probation officer in the town for 11 years, asked the officers why her niece was getting such rough treatment.

"I said, 'What is going on?' And all [the officer] could say was, 'She cursed,'" said Blackmon.

Ellis was charged with disturbing the peace, trespassing, resisting arrest and two counts of assaulting a police officer. She was then offered a plea deal by Dunklin County Prosecutor Stephen Sokoloff. The prosecutor offered to drop the felony counts to one misdemeanor of disturbing the peace, as long as Ellis signed the plea deal. Her aunt claims that the deal was offered so their family wouldn't file a lawsuit.

Ellis refused to take the plea deal, claiming that she wasn't willing to admit to something she didn't do; however, 11 months later, the misdemeanor counts were dropped, which seemed to be good news. The good news, though, was replaced with something even more disturbing.

It turned out that the misdemeanor counts had been replaced by felonies. Ellis now faces 15 years in prison if convicted. When her aunt went to prosecutor Sokoloff to find out what happened, Sokoloff allegedly told her, "Mrs. Ellis, when you get through, I don't care what you say. You may as well take my way out. My way was the plea bargain. If you don't take that way, I can assure you, you'll never win in here."

Ellis claims that her pending convictions have cost her two jobs and the chance to enter medical school, but she still refuses to sign the plea deal. Racism recently entered in to the story when Ellis was handed KKK cards from a Kennett police officer warning her about her actions. The cards stated, "You've just been paid a social visit by the Ku Klux Klan; the next visit will not be social." The officer claims that he only showed the family the cards to make them aware of the situation. Since that time, and after a dramatic plea for support, people have come to help Heather. The site www.SaveHeatherEllis.com has emerged, and her father appeared on CNN on the 15th of October to tell her story.

All I can say is not again... We finally got Jena 6 cleared up, now this crap pops up. Everyday when I am listening to talk show radio I hear about how so many blacks in the US are racist. Now when something racial pops up that is truly racist, guess who refuses to talk about it, that's right you guessed it the Limbaugh's of America. These talk show millionaires refuse to keep it real and choose to hide behind the constant attacks of blaming Obama for everything that is wrong with the US.

I think that every time this crap keeps floating to the top we have to ban together and fight it tooth and nail. You see if we won't stand for something we will fall for everything. We should be tired of the banana in the tail pipe. Through history I have saw much racial injustice that has been subjected to minorities in our country. To be honest people I just want it to end, no fogged mirrors or slight of hand just down to earth shoot straight and keep it real. If you give absolutely nothing then you can expect to get exactly what you give. Nothing!!!

Sarah Kruzan: 16-Year-Old sentenced to life for killing pimp

I was browsing the web a few days ago when I ran across the following headline: "16yr old gets life in prison for killing her pimp." Perhaps my considerable awareness of the way the internet works--Shock and Awe = Traffic--was what led to initial skepticism; but once I clicked the YouTube video link, all ambiguity vacated.

I was introduced to the story of Sarah Kruzan, 29, a female inmate in California. Filmed by the National Center for Youth Law, an advocacy group assisting her, Sarah tells in full detail her background, and the path leading up to the prison cell she resides in today.

Sarah Kruzan.jpg

She grew up in Riverside, California, in the home of a drug-addicted mother who frequently abused her. Nonetheless, this "over-achiever" excelled in school, making the principal's Honor Roll consistently, running track, winning a Young Author's Award for a book on the effects of drugs. It all seemed like the perfect Horatio Alger mythology come true, until she met a 31-year-old man, G.G.

The missing "father figure" vacuum in her life was happily filled by G.G. who would take her and her friends skating and to the mall. "G.G. was there at some times," she says, "and he would talk to me, take me out, and give me all these lavish gifts... and then he would tell me, sex-wise, 'you don't need to give it up for free'." G.G. was a skilled manipulator who knew what he wanted, and just how to get it. When Sarah turned 13, he raped her.

"He uses his manhood to hurt--like break you in," Sarah recounts. The break-you-in allusion is a mere euphemism for prostitution. At that same age, Sarah was put on the streets, working 12-hour shifts (6P.M.-6.A.M.) for G.G. Sarah saw none of the money she worked for. "Everything was his," she reports.

Three years later, fed up and frustrated, Sarah snapped and killed G.G., and was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Plus four years.

She recounts the court proceedings: "I remember my lawyer saying that he wanted to ask for me to be sentenced as a Juvenile because Y.A. [California Youth Authority] had found me amenable and susceptible to the treatment; but the judge said that because of my crime--and he said it was well thought-out--that I deserved life without."

"That means I'm gonna die here," she heartbreakingly reflects. And with tears soaking up her eyes, admits all wrongdoing: "I definitely know I deserve punishment: I mean, you don't just take somebody's life and think that it's okay; so, yes, definitely, I deserve punishment." But then she asks, and answers, a question the judge who sentenced her should have pondered more carefully: "How much? I don't know."

Even while the possibility of life beyond bars looks gloomy for Sarah, she's tried to "educate" herself, "reading books," though admits it's hard to "excel in prison."

Perhaps this was what her judge imagined when he condemned her for lack of "moral scruples." But given the opportunity at a parole hearing, Sarah would like to tell the board: "first of all, I've learned what moral scruples are; second, that every day is a challenge ... that I've found the ability to believe in myself, and that I have a lot of good to offer, now--the person who I am today, at 29: I believe that I could set a positive example. I'm very determined to show that no matter what you've done, or where you've come from, or what you've experienced in life, it's up to you to change."

This is California, a state with 150,000 inmates, 70% recidivism, 200% capacity, and $10 billion for its prison industrial complex budget. So, it makes sense that even harmless offenders like Sarah Kruzan, whose action while unlawful seem reasonable, are condemned as irredeemable, thus deserving of an existence devoid of any shot at redemption.

But there's another side to it: There's the pervasive sexism and misogyny of the justice system that fails to receive sufficient address even in the most progressive of circles. While the disproportionate incarceration of Black males is in need of all legal, moral, and financial challenge available, the booming of an incarcerated female population is in dire need of an equally ferocious amount of intervention. For instance, the Women In Prison Project, a non-profit social group, reported in March last year that "[f]rom 1995 to 2006, the number of women inmates in state and federal prisons nationwide increased by 64%." And that the "growth rate for women in state and federal prisons in 2006 (4.5%) was higher than the average annual rate of growth in each of the previous five years (2.9%)."

In all the years Sarah Kruzan was being abused, tortured, manhandled, and molested, it's hard to imagine no one who mattered was unaware. But it also has to do with "public attitudes," as PBS reported last year in a short exposé, Fighting Child Prostitution. Using the Atlanta prostitution market as a case study, it revealed several instances where teenage prostitutes were "going to jail while their pimps and johns ran free." Alesia Adams, a renowned social worker on issues around sexual exploitation, explained: "Very few people see these children as victims. And they don't understand the ... victimization of this child and the dynamics of what has happened to her."

In short, more than a legal matter, it reflects the priorities and presuppositions of a society morally bankrupt. It explains why the 2005 Academy Award for Best Original Song was awarded to "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," a commercial Rap tale about the hardships of "making change off these women."

Chances are if G.G. had survived that day, it's unlikely any charges would have been filed against him for conducting a prostitution ring, or for robbing young girls of their innocence. The more likely outcome is what developed after his death: The transformation of an assailant into a victim, and of a victim into an assailant.

In such a sexually involved case as this, punishing the victim to redeem the assailant is nothing new. The story of Lena Baker, a Black maid denied clemency and afterward executed in 1945 for killing her White male pimp/captor, rips the veil off a society, and its justice system, in bed with Patriarchy. ("What I done, I did in self-defense or I would have been killed myself. Where I was, I could not overcome it.")

Of course, beyond the criminalization of Youth and the pervasiveness of sexism in the legal system, it also grants evidence to the militarized surrounding enveloping all segments of our lives.

We all know the case of two Pennsylvania judges exposed earlier this year for receiving $2.6 million in kickbacks by sending teenagers to a privately run juvenile detention center--sometimes for crimes such as building spoof MySpace pages to satirize a school principal. But even with the aid of such opportune revelation, mainstream press still fell short of broadening the discourse to include concerns about the school-to-prison pipeline, or the penitentiary privatization schemes that bank on the missteps of human beings.

Acclaimed playwright Wallace Shawn touched on this with grace in his latest text, Essays. [Haymarket Books, 2009, p. 20.] He wrote: "We actually have a large army as well, and a navy and an air force, plus the F.B.I., Coast Guard, Central Intelligence Agency, and marine--oy. It turned out that simply in order to be secure and protect our neighborhood, we needed an empire."

This is the empire that greed built. And its captives include anyone as young as 5 and as old as 84.

I thought discrimination was over...

A group of African-American firefighters in Philadelphia has gone to federal court, alleging that the firefighters' union openly discriminates against its black members."The union's response is that there is no discrimination."

The lawsuit claims that members of firefighters' Local 22 has been racially hostile and at times abusive toward African-American members, including in comments on the union web site.

Attorney Brian Mildenberg is representing the black firefighters:

"There's just a constant teasing and taunting of African-American firefighters. That's on the Internet, and unfortunately it's spilling over as well into the actual union hall and union meetings."

Bob Bedard, spokesman for Local 22, denies the charges:

Mildenberg wants a federal judge to appoint a civil rights monitor.

The firefighters' case is similar to one filed about a year ago by black Philadelphia police officers who cited rampant discrimination and harassment in the department, including on an unofficial police web site called dome lights.com. That web site has since gone out of operation.

Why does so many people in the United States think that because a black president was elected that discrimination was going to magically disappeared? Unfortunately the bigotry and shallow minded thinking of some people still exist. I think that one could argue that my statement is false, but the KKK and skin heads are just 2 of the 926 hate groups scattered over the United States. America has came along way in how they treat people of color. Lets face it, people of color help to construct America and make it what it is. Discrimination is not what it was 20 years ago but it still is a way of life for some. Lets face it all you have to do is listen to some and watch others to figure out that discrimination, still is in full effect and it shows in how they act and how they act and treat people.. The number of discrimination cases in America has significantly dropped but lets face it, it is not over today, tomorrow and it will not end in the next 20 years. So don't be surprised that you will see more cases like this in the near future. As some people say " It is what it is".

Dc Sniper is no more

The DC sniper is no more, John Allen Muhammad, the man behind the 2002 Washington D.C.-area sniper attacks - is no more.
Muhammad possessed a calm, stoic and defiant posture to the end. Muhammad refused to utter any final words. He died by injection at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday as relatives of the victims watched, reliving the killing spree that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area for three weeks that October.

The 48-year-old stepped foot into the Virginia's death chamber and within seconds was lying on a gurney, tapping his left foot, his arms spread wide with a needle dug into each. It never seems enough to just kill a killer...

The destruction and attack on the city at that time left the world in horror as they were watching people dropping like flies with no explanations, because no one knew who was killing all those people. I wonder each and every day why has society achieved such a violent level of kill everyone before they die? Each year we have killers who reach this sick status of popularity simply because they were killers and what makes them more unique is the fact that they wrote their way in history, Ted Bundy, Son Of Sam, Timothy McVay and this list goes on but the great end to this story they are no more!
